The Scottish Premier League, abbreviated as SPL is the
best football league in Scotland and is organized by the Scottish Football
Association.
The current sponsor is the Clydesdale Bank, for which the current tournament is
called Clydesdale Bank
Scottish Premier League.
Is currently played by 12 teams, each team plays the other teams three times instead
of two, for a total of 33 days of the championship.
Assigned three points to the team that wins a match, one point for each team in
the event of a tie and zero points for the loosing team.
At the end of the 33 days is the so-called split or division two championship.
The first six will deal with each other for once, the same done for the last six.
Previously, the Scottish Football League had two divisions ( "
Division One"
and "
Two") with clubs that were promoted and back at the end of
each season.
However, in the mid-70s, this organization began to be stagnant, and it was decided
to divide the structure into three divisions (
Premier Division,
First Division and Second Division).
This formula continued until the mid-90s, when it was decided to add a fourth structure,
the Third Division.
